    Nut-free & low-sugar campus

    Snacks and nutrition, taken seriously

LSAOC is a nut-free, low-sugar school. We have children with severe nut allergies, so no nuts of any kind are permitted on campus. We provide a daily snack menu; on days your child would prefer a substitute, please send one free from soda, candy, chocolate, and high-sugar foods. Ask us for the current snack menu any time.

When to keep your child home

Young children pick up several illnesses a year, and some mornings the call is a hard one. Please keep your child home if they have any of these:

    • A fever of 100.4°F or higher. We start calling you at 99.4°F, since it can take a while to get here and pick up your child.
    • A sore throat.
    • A new, uncontrolled cough that makes breathing difficult. For a child with a chronic allergy or asthma cough, that means a change from their usual cough.
    • Diarrhea, vomiting, or a stomachache.
    • A new, severe headache, especially with a fever.

To come back to school after any of these, your child needs a doctor's note. The note must include your child's name, their condition, the reason for the visit, and the date they can return to school.
